I found the entry for the check I sent them, no luck on the actual check
as my old receipts are in deep storage. It was an M & H Electronics.
Anyone know of an M & H Electronics and how I can contact them?
Thanks in advance,

Subject: CW filter for the ICOM IC-735
To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu
I have an ICOM IC-735, and would like to improve the cw filtering
capability.
The radio presently has the ICOM 500Hz CW filter in the 1'st IF (9 MHz).
I would like to install a cascaded 500 Hz CW filter in the 2nd IF (455
KHz). Has anyone installed an aditional CW filter in the 2nd IF? What
kind of modifications to the radio would be required?
Thank you - Ron N0AT

Subject: Help with rf Series 1550
To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu
I just bought a transceiver made by a company called "rf". It looks a little
old, but it works. It is a Series 1550. 50 watts, main transmitter goes in
trunk of car, 5 channels. I would like any information I can get on this, such
as frequencies, how to modify it to run on regular amateur bands(if it
doesn't already), etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu
I've installed a TM742A in my car with the removeable head kit, and it's
pretty decent. A pain to get out to send in for service, but it generally
works quite well.
The only problem I've had is with the mic remote control option - sometimes
I pick up RF noise in the control lines, and it trips the repeater offset
or opens the band squelch.

Have you tried calling Motorola National Parts at (800) 422-4210 yet?
I get all my Motorola manuals from them. Sure beats having a cheesy
photocopy.

I personally consider good receiver performance a feature, often of more value
to me than extended frequency coverage. The ARRL test of 2m HTs showed that the
HTX-202 indeed has the strongest receiver available; combined with rejection of
out-of-band signals, this makes for a radio that avoids the desense/intermod
many others are noted for.
What do you mean by 'more capability' ? Is a big piece of this extended RX
coverage? If so, then the HTX-202 doesn't have this feature. For someone
like myself, living in a congested RF dense area, a strong receiver is more
important.

Subject: request info on Icom IC-970A/H
To: ham-equip@ucsd.edu
I would very much appreciate it if somebody who owns or is familiar with
the Icom IC-970A/H rigs would send me mail volunteering to answer some
questions. The Icom sales brochure shows three pictures of the front of
the unit, and none of the back, and not nearly enough technical info.
Actually, the -H model seems to be extinct, and I presume the -A model
is going the same route. What are the net.opinions on this? Is the
IC-820H intended to be the replacement? Or is Icom soon to come out
with a new 970 follow-on?
Is there a review of the 970 similar to the G3RUH review of the 820H?
Does anybody have some ideas on where I might find a used 970H, since
new ones appear to be no longer available?
AdTHANKSvance for any information.

There was a Subaudible generator accessory for this radio, but it drifted

I still can't find, anywhere in the manual, exactly what this means. My
guess would be that they're just using the VCO tuning voltage to tune
the (somewhat narrower) front end. Am I right?
